Transport iNet teams up with Cooney Marine to develop new product range

The company:

Kettering based Cooney Marine is a leading manufacturer of yacht and boat equipment.

Support provided:

Cooney Marine was a long standing contact of innovation advisor Sam Clarke, who put the company forward for match funded support to allow them to develop a new range of hybrid davit.

Resulting innovation:

Currently only hand operated davits that have a limited load capacity are available on the market. Due to the support provided by Transport iNet, Cooney Marine has now developed the first davit to carry much heavier weights. It also features an electric motor. This innovative product has not only extended the range of products it can offer to clients but has opened its services to a whole new market.

Quote:

The support from the Transport iNet has been the key driver behind our design of an innovative product which will help us to attract new customers. In addition to the funding support, they put us in touch with a consultant whose knowledge and expertise was vital to make sure we got the product right.

“Without support from the Transport iNet, I don’t think we would have tried to develop this new type of davit as it would have been too difficult to find the funding or resources. As a UK manufacturing company we place a lot of importance on investing in skills and innovation. An organisation for support and guidance such as the Transport iNet is vital to do this.”
